‘Fortnite’ frenzy takes over gaming world
There’s a new video game shattering records and leaving parents wondering how to pull their kids away. Young brothers Sam and Jack Rostin are just two of the many who can’t get enough of Fortnite. Often glued to their TV screen at all hours of the night, the Rostin brothers share a passion for the game, trying to survive against 99 other players and being part of an extended family of gamers. Earlier this year, Fortnite broke the record for players playing at one time, at 3.4 million.
Founder of the game design program at Drexel University, Frank Lee says the game’s popularity is tied to its simple concept, and to the fact that Epic Games, is constantly providing updates, giving players something new to look forward to every time they log on. But don’t panic, Parents! Setting simple boundaries makes sure that gaming is not affecting other parts of life, like interacting with family and friends and completing school work.
Add Fortnite Scout Stats Tracker to Your Stream
UPDATE April 18th 2018:Added three new overlay types, and you can customize your colors. To add this to your stream, create either a BrowserSource or Webpage URL and paste the URL and sizing numbers from above. Fortnite Scout does not make money from the streaming overlay, so the more people that know about us through your stream, the longer we can continue doing what we’re doing. Move your new Fortnite Scout layers in place underneath your in-game health bar, map, or wherever you like. The recommended position listed above will work for most people running a default streaming setup, but you may have to position it manually.
If you can’t see the game in your stream monitor, try bringing up your inventory before alt-tabbing out of the game. THINGS TO KNOW: While you’re streaming, the Fortnite Scout layer will update your stats every 3 minutes. Actual data refresh times may vary slightly depending on Fortnite’s own update speeds. Overlays that track data per streaming session will reset if the session ends. Things work fine in our testing under a default environment, but any settings you apply that would break the browser session will cause those overlays to start over.
HypeZone automatically switches between Mixer streamers closest to winning the coveted Victory Royale. Cheer on your fellow streamers featured and make sure to give them a Follow! With HypeZone Fortnite, we’re experimenting with automatic stream switching. With the launch of HypeZone Fortnite, we now have our epic global mod team staffing both the core HypeZone channel as well as the streamer’s channel being hosted. These moderators will only enforce Mixer rules of conduct and extreme violations.
Appointed channel moderators are still needed to enforce channel specific rules and less extreme violations. Unless viewers vote to skip a stream, the broadcast will stay on a single streamer till they win or lose. This means it’s possible to be close to winning, but not make it on the channel.
For optimum viewing, make sure there are no overlays or effects blocking the players alive indicator on your stream, and ensure there are no borders around the game as streamed. Because of a temporary issue with duplicate audio streams, co-streams aren’t displayed on the HypeZone right now.
